How quickly time flies. It’s already been a year since I commenced associate work with Deloitte Risk Advisory in Birmingham. I’ve enjoyed it so much that I’ve accepted an extension for another year at Deloitte.
It’s been a busy year working with a number of private and public sector organisations over the past year. One project in particular has occupied most of my time – Outpatients Improvement, working as an associate with Deloitte for a NHS acute trust in the West Midlands.
Working on Outpatients has helped the Trust to make real improvements in efficiencies, process standardisation and most importantly to patient experience.
The foundation of the improvement activity has been built on robust demand / capacity data and using this to establish an Outpatients dashboard from which KPIs have been identified and used to drive improvements.
Using problem solving, flow charts and SOPs has had a tremendous impact on reducing overall;
- empty slots
- reduced slots
- slots lost due to reduced clinics
The final piece of the jigsaw puzzle has been coaching leaders through the change processes.
